October 9, 1999    Aiken Driving Club Modified 1 Day Training Event ( click here for photos )
Carriages will once again grace the fields and trails of Black Forest Equestrian Center, Saturday, October 9th beginning at 9:00 a.m. The event is designed to be a fun day for drivers and spectators. The event will consist of five phases including 1) Dressage Training Level Test 2 or Preliminary Level Test 4, 2) Cross Country over a marked course much like a traditional drive, 3) Cones Course by Claye Clyatt, 4) Obstacle Course Gamblers Choice, and 5) Pleasure Drive. Drivers may participate in any or all of the phases.

October 18, 1999    S.C. Horsemen's Council / S.C. Legislature Dinner
Black Forest Equestrian Center's main barn will be the site for the South Carolina Horsemen's Council Annual Legislature Dinner. South Carolina's Equestrian activities and businesses play a vital role in the state's economy and tourism. This is an excellent opportunity for businesses and individuals to meet and discuss industry related topics with our legislative delegates. A date for the event is being confirmed.

October 19-22, 1999, October 25-29,1999, November 1-5, 1999    Tina Wommelsdorf Riding Clinic
Black Forest Equestrian Center will hold riding clinics with International Dressage Instructor Tina Wommelsdorf. Ms. Wommelsdorf, a native of Germany, has competed Grand Prix for many years. She has won approximately eighty FEI tests, many under international judges. She has trained her own horses as well as trained pupils and their horses to Grand Prix. Ms. Wommelsdorf has several times won the Australian National and State Championships, the Royal Show, Rider of the Year and earned Horse of the Year three consecutive years - which has not been achieved by any other rider. Ms. Wommelsdorf is graded at Level III, the highest level Dressage Coach and has judged FEI for twenty years. Ms. Wommelsdorf is one of only sixty-six people in the world to be honored with membership in the "International Dressage Trainer's Club".

Black Forest Equestrian Center's covered riding arena has been reserved for a private wedding rehearsal dinner. It must be a big under taking as they are planning to need three days to get it all ready!

November 19, 1999    S.T.A.R. Oyster Roast ( click here for photos )
Watch for more news on the S.T.A.R. Riding & Driving Annual Fund Raiser Oyster Roast at Black Forest Equestrian Center. Over 300 people enjoyed oysters, dinner and dancing last year in support of riding and driving programs for students with disabilities. (S.T.A.R. stands for Specialized Therapeutic And Recreational). This year the event will be held the evening before the Aiken Fall Steeplechase and you won't want to miss out.

October-December, 1999    Aiken Preparatory School Fall Riding Program
Black Forest Equestrian Center and Aiken Preparatory School have joined forces to offer the Aiken Prep School Riding Program beginning this fall semester. The riding program will be part of the after school sports program and includes:

Lower School Riding Curriculum - Introduction to Horsemanship (After School Riding Program)

Middle School Sports Program - Riding Program Orientation (Middle School Riding Program)
